An established artist, Chris Hankey paints large format works with oil on canvas. The powerful and beautiful changing faces of the ocean are often the subject of his pieces.

He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow under a ten month Polish government scholarship, and received a MA in Fine Arts from the University of Wales at Cardiff.

Hankey says of his work: “I paint the creative fluid interaction between light, sea, weather and mind. My work is based on my physical experience in the landscape, from walking, cycling, cliff climbing, to mountaineering and snowboarding…I prefer the wide open spaces where the experience combined with risk, heightens one’s senses and one comes close to some essential core of experience.”
