I have a new winter storm painting, called ‘Winter Storm Gwenver’ oil on canvas 48×54 inches.

Winter Storm Gwenver oil on canvas 48×54 inches 2009
I thought I would include a couple of images showing close up details of the textured areas that I build up.

Just click on the image to have a closer look. These parts of the painting are the most heavily worked and often include dozens of layers of paint in my attempt to create that luminous depth of colour and light that emerges through the mixing of light and water.
In the next few days I will be confirming dates for my exhibitions occuring throughout 2009

I have added a new catagory - ‘reviews’ which as the name sugests is all about articles and reviews about my artworks and exhibitions. Over the next few days or so  I will be adding quite a few of these but as I have quite a large folder full of such things it will take a while. There will also be links to other web sites with reviews and info about my work like this one at Porthminster Gallery St. Ives…. www.porthminstergallery.co.uk/chrishankey.html

I have had one or two international enquiries. As this web site is new I have concentrated so far on getting as much info about my artwork and various projects sorted and onto the site as possible, and as yet I am still researching how best to organise international orders. At the moment if you see anything that interests you, best thing for you to do is e mail me and let me know what painting you are interested in and I can then push on and find the best way to get the painting to you. I suspect there will be things like import duty to take into account.
For people in the USA Chalk Farm Gallery Santa Fe New Mexico have had work of mine in the past and exhibited my work in London and Santa Fe and they could be a useful first port of call for advice. The person to contact is Suhana Gibson at Chalk Farm Gallery Santa Fe. It has been a while since we have been in contact, but I am sure something can be sorted out. I know it’s a bit vague so as soon as I have things more formalised I will be adding that info to my web site. For now e mail me with details ofwhich painting you are interested in and I will send a quote including packing and shipping cost.
Approaching Rain 42×90 inches 2009 Storm Gwenver 42×90 inches 2009
These two paintings are about a walk I often do between Sennen Cove and Gwenver along the cliff. And when it is stormy it’s just close enough to get your heart racing.
