I have added a new catagory - ‘reviews’ which as the name sugests is all about articles and reviews about my artworks and exhibitions. Over the next few days or so  I will be adding quite a few of these but as I have quite a large folder full of such things it will take a while. There will also be links to other web sites with reviews and info about my work like this one at Porthminster Gallery St. Ives…. www.porthminstergallery.co.uk/chrishankey.html

I have had one or two international enquiries. As this web site is new I have concentrated so far on getting as much info about my artwork and various projects sorted and onto the site as possible, and as yet I am still researching how best to organise international orders. At the moment if you see anything that interests you, best thing for you to do is e mail me and let me know what painting you are interested in and I can then push on and find the best way to get the painting to you. I suspect there will be things like import duty to take into account.
For people in the USA Chalk Farm Gallery Santa Fe New Mexico have had work of mine in the past and exhibited my work in London and Santa Fe and they could be a useful first port of call for advice. The person to contact is Suhana Gibson at Chalk Farm Gallery Santa Fe. It has been a while since we have been in contact, but I am sure something can be sorted out. I know it’s a bit vague so as soon as I have things more formalised I will be adding that info to my web site. For now e mail me with details ofwhich painting you are interested in and I will send a quote including packing and shipping cost.
Approaching Rain 42×90 inches 2009 Storm Gwenver 42×90 inches 2009
These two paintings are about a walk I often do between Sennen Cove and Gwenver along the cliff. And when it is stormy it’s just close enough to get your heart racing.

another of our clients is Queen Square Dental Clinic in Bristol who bought a 38×90 inch seascape painting shown below. It is on a large wall in a very impressive waiting room and looks terrific and It makes a real change to see something like that in a waiting room instead of endless oral health posters and tatty magazines.

Some more historical info here about our clients. In 2005 I became involved with Art International Nassau, curated and organised by HH Princess Azamat Guirey. Unfortunately I could not travel to attend the private view so I contented myself with having 4 large artworks on show during the exhibition. The show was a great success 3 out of the 4 paintings I sent were purchased. This one was bought by HH Princess Azamat Gyirey.

I thought it might be interesting to show where some of our artworks end up. We supply artworks to galleries for exhibitions and sell to private individuals Boutique hotels and corporate spaces and museums. So this will become an archive of our clients.
Here’s some work that went to Boskerris Hotel in St. Ives at the beginning of this year. It also hopefully will give you an idea of how our artworks look in various places.

Here are some paintings I have recently finished. The painting ‘Agapanthus august storm’ continues my fascination with the Agapanthus dunes on Tresco. The other two form the beginnings of two new series, ‘Fun in the sun’ is the first of a series of paintings of children playing on the beach and ‘Bluebells near Zennor’ begins a series about the wild flowers that bloom along the Cornish coast.

Still continuing the March Storm series here are two large scale works that have been on the go since March this year. They are slightly smaller and a tad longer in proportion than the 38×90 inch paintings. I really like working on this format and this size of canvas.

‘Storm Bryher March 2008′ 28×72 inches ‘Storm Bryher’ 28×72 inches
Both paintings are oil on canvas but also have soil and sand mixed in with the paint. I also make my own painting tools with which to apply the paint. To be honest I find brushes to regular to boring and working on this scale, paint brushes because of my methods do not last very long and they do not seem to allow the same amount of variation in mark making that I can achieve with my own tools. So what I use is 4mm ply in various rectilinear sizes with rounded and bevalled edges which I carefully shape and use to apply large quantities of paint to the canvas or board. It really is very exciting and fun to work this way and for me it allows the texture to build and to acquire that wildness of natural growth.

I have just become aware of some connection issues with the web site. My e mail has not been working properly and then my internet provider went down as well.
I have also had a customer experience some problems when in putting information on the on line order forms.
Everything seems to be back up and working properly but please let me know if you come across any problems. Either email me doms598@aol.com or telephone 01736 350692 mobile 07787372241, if you have any questions at all about on line ordering. If you would rather speak to me in person please do so, and remember to any UK address I am always willing to bring any particular artwork for you to view in your home before finalising a sale.
